We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Legal Counsel to join our 4-person strong In-house Legal department. This role is integral to supporting the Head of Legal & Company Secretariat and Senior Legal Counsel on a wide array of legal issues, strategic projects, and product development initiatives. As Legal Counsel, you will provide high-quality legal advice, support the development of new market entries, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will help shape the future of PCL’s services and maintain their reputation for excellence. You will (amongst other things):

  • review and negotiate third party contracts with our suppliers and partners;
  • deal with a variety of general legal queries that could relate to matters such as employment, data protection, corporate, general commercial, disputes / litigation, debt recovery;
  • work closely with other teams on projects, incidents, disputes and complex complaints;
  • attend working group meetings as representative for Legal;
  • contribute to and support the Legal Operations Lead with internal legal initiatives such as the use of technology, improving processes, and educating / training other teams in the organisation;
  • build strong and trusted relationships with key stakeholders;
  • be ready to ‘roll your sleeves’ up and get stuck into to legal queries that might not be your area of expertise;
  • work closely with the Risk and Compliance team;
  • manage and support the continual maintenance of legal template contracts and documents, such as agreements with our Partners and customers;
Who are you? You are a driven, self-motivated lawyer with between 1 -4 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in a role with exposure to general commercial legal matters and contracts, with some in house experience. You possess the ability to influence and build effective relationships with key stakeholders, offering insightful and commercially astute advice. Your pragmatic approach, resilience, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment will be key to your success. Prior experience working in the financial services regulated industry in either lending or insurance would be beneficial, or at the very least, a keen interest in working for a regulated financial services business.
