Flora Stevenson Primary School
The Flora Stevenson Primary School is a co-educational and non-denominational school located in the North of the City not far from the City Centre. The school caters for children from Primary 1 to Primary 7 and has a nursery for children aged 3 to 5 years. There are currently 640 children in P1 – P7 divided into 21 classes and capacity for 60 full-time spaces in Nursery.
In Flora Stevenson Primary school, our vision is to be a caring, nurturing community where everyone can develop skills for life, learning and work. Alongside all other schools in the City of Edinburgh Council, it is our vision that all our learners will experience the best teaching and learning.
The Senior Leadership Team consists of a Head Teacher, three Depute Head Teachers and a Business Manager. The school is also the home for the primary section of the City of Edinburgh Music School, a National Centre of Excellence. The Music School is led by the Assistant Director of the City of Edinburgh Music School. There is strong collegiate working between the music school and the school. Flora Stevenson have strong links with the Broughton High School and associated Primary Schools.
Flora’s is very lucky to have a strong and supportive parent community, who are very keen to be involved in the life of the school.
Please note, for candidates that are invited for Short Leet there will be a virtual assessment centre consisting of three written tasks.
If the successful candidate does not meet this requirement the post may be offered on a temporary basis for a maximum period of 30 months if the panel is satisfied that, on an individual basis, there is a likelihood that the Into Headship qualification will be achieved within this timescale. A permanent contract will be offered only when the course is successfully completed. If it becomes clear that this essential qualification will not be achieved within 30 months then the contract will be ended with appropriate notice and the temporary Head Teacher will then revert to a DHT1 post available across the city.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
