The need to improve water company performance is well documented. Activity such as audit should be a commonly used tool in our regulatory toolkit.
We require an Audit and Compliance Advisor to work with a Senior Advisor to improve our approach to auditing and compliance at Water Companies, working with other key teams in both Water Quality and Water Resources. This is an exciting time to join our team working to protect and improve the water quality of our rivers through effective and efficient regulation of Water Companies.
As the Audit and Compliance Advisor you will play a pivotal role in how we apply data and intelligence to achieve compliance in the Water Industry using the appropriate regulatory intervention.
Understanding how to conduct a Water Industry audit effectively and advising on training, guidance, tools, and practical experience needed.
• Engaging across the business to inform and help develop a nationally consistent approach to audit and compliance interventions. Working with key stakeholders to embed new processes through the internal networks and across teams.
• Working with E&B colleagues to deliver training, new processes and guidance for audit and compliance.
• Working with colleagues to develop a compliance interventions toolkit to enable officers to identify the appropriate intervention technique to apply in any regulatory scenario.
• Working with Senior Advisor to advise on and embed effective processes for audit and compliance.
We're part of the Environment and Business (E&B) Directorate which supports the Environment Agency by using evidence, expertise, and innovation to enhance and support delivery, influence policy, legislation, and secure resources. We steer the direction, set the priorities, and shape our organisation's approach to deliver environmental outcomes and better regulation.
We are looking for a talented, dynamic team member to develop and improve our auditing and compliance activities of the Water Industry for both WQ and WR. Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues at work.
• Ability to identify opportunities for improvements and efficiencies, help develop new approaches/processes and embed them successfully.
• Experience of working with others to provide training.
• Experience of regulation, preferably water industry regulation.
