We have an exciting opportunity to work alongside the current Lead Nurses for the Yorkshire & Humber Children, Teenage & Young Adult Cancer Clinical Network (YHCTYAC) one day a week for a fixed term of two years.

The role of the Lead Nurse for the YHCTYAC Clinical Network is to provide professional and clinical nursing leadership across the Network. Drawing from their knowledge and experience as a senior cancer nurse, they act as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge for patients, families and healthcare professionals. They ensure the provision and delivery of a high standard of care to children and young people with cancer.

The post-holder will work with the Network Executive Group, Network Manager, Network member organisations, Lead nurses for Children and Teenagers and Teenage and Young Adults, and Lead Clinician(s) as part of a multi- disciplinary strategic team, to ensure delivery of high-quality equitable services for children and young people aged 0-24 inclusive with cancer across the Yorkshire and Humber region.

The post holder will work with nursing teams across the Network to support the development and improvement of care pathways and ensure the national service standards and specifications for Childrens and TYA cancer are met.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work alongside the Network team, to provide senior leadership and independent advice and will engage with and oversee a series of workstreams that enable adherence to both national and local targets for CTYA cancer services in the region.

The post-holder will also work closely with national colleagues to ensure efficiency and consistency in implementing network policy and quality improvement.

The network is funded by NHS England under specialised commissioning, and so a close working relationship with commissioners is also required to understand the national picture of CTYA Cancer Services.

The post-holder will work closely with the Network board team, ensuring equitable and inclusive network development.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The role will provide professional / clinical nursing leadership across the Network. Drawing from their knowledge and experience as a senior children & young persons nurse and act as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge for patients, families and healthcare professionals. They will ensure the provision and delivery of a high standard of care to children and young people with cancer.

To will work with the Network Executive Group, Network Manager, Network member organisations, Lead nurses for Children and Teenagers and Teenage and Young Adults and Lead Clinician(s) as part of a multi- disciplinary strategic team, to ensure the delivery of high quality equitable services for children and young people aged 0-24 inclusive with cancer across the Yorkshire and Humber Clinical Network.

Working with nursing teams across the Network supporting the development/ improvement of care pathways and ensure the national service standards and specifications for Childrens and TYA cancer are met.

Also in partnership with the Clinical Network Nurse Educator and Principle Treatment Centres educators ensure education and training is delivered across all the provider units. Ensuring that there are effective mechanisms in place for user involvement and participation in service planning and service improvement, encouraging patient representation in the work of the Network.

Ensuring the development of robust and responsive shared care and joint care arrangements, as defined in the NHSE service specifications, for patients, provider trusts and clinicians.
