Locum Band 6 & 7 Community Physiotherapists within a Community Neuro-Rehabilitation and Stroke Team
Job Description:
As a Locum Band 6 or 7 Community Physiotherapist within a Community Neuro-Rehabilitation and Stroke Team, your role is to provide specialized physiotherapy services to individuals recovering from neurological conditions and stroke within the community setting. Working on a temporary or contract basis, you will fill in for absent or vacant positions within the team, supporting patients on their journey towards regaining mobility, function, and independence.
Responsibilities:
1.
Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments of individuals with neurological conditions and stroke to determine their physical abilities, impairments, and functional goals. Use standardized assessments, clinical observations, and patient interviews to identify specific rehabilitation needs.
2.
Rehabilitation Planning and Intervention: Collaborate with patients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team to develop individualized rehabilitation plans. Implement evidence-based physiotherapy interventions, including exercises, therapeutic activities, and manual techniques, to promote recovery and enhance physical function.
3.
Gait Training and Mobility: Provide gait training and mobility exercises to help patients improve their walking ability and regain balance and coordination. Utilize assistive devices, such as walking aids, as appropriate, to support patients in regaining independence.
4.
Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT): Implement NDT techniques to facilitate movement and improve motor control in individuals with neurological conditions and stroke.
5.
Strength and Conditioning: Design and deliver strength and conditioning programs to address muscle weakness, improve endurance, and enhance overall physical fitness.
6.
Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Training: Provide training and support in activities of daily living, such as dressing, grooming, and bathing, to help patients regain independence in their self-care routines.
7.
Home Exercise Program: Develop home exercise programs to encourage patients to continue their rehabilitation outside of therapy sessions and maintain their progress.
8.
Pain Management: Use various physiotherapy modalities and techniques to manage pain and discomfort associated with neurological conditions and stroke.
9.
Family and Caregiver Education: Educate family members and caregivers on safe handling techniques, exercises, and strategies to support the patient's recovery and ongoing needs.
10.
Collaborative Care: Work closely with occupational therapists, speech therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in the Community Neuro-Rehabilitation and Stroke Team to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive support for patients.
11.
Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes measurement in accordance with legal and ethical standards. Ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
12.
Continuous Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest research, advancements, and best practices in neuro-rehabilitation and stroke management. Engage in professional development activities, such as attending relevant training, conferences, and workshops. Seek supervision and engage in reflective practice to ensure professional growth.
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physiotherapy.
* Registration with the relevant professional regulatory body.
* Significant experience working as a Physiotherapist in neuro-rehabilitation and stroke settings.
* Knowledge of neurological conditions, stroke, and evidence-based physiotherapy interventions.
* Strong clinical assessment and intervention skills.
* Proficiency in using outcome measures and goal setting in rehabilitation planning.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
* Flexibility and adaptability to work within a locum or temporary role.
