Horticulture Technician

Snowfields Academy has a fantastic opportunity for a committed and motivated Horticulture Technician to join our and collaborative team as soon as possible. The successful candidatewill have responsibility for the setting up, cultivation and maintenance of our horticulture area, support our teaching staff with horticulture lessons and will work alongside our students.

The key purpose of this job is to provide plants with the appropriate seasonal care they require to remain healthy. To do so, the technician requires a knowledge of plant reproduction, transplantation and cultivation techniques (e.g. for lawns, hedges, shrubs and ornamental plants). The technicianshould also be able to recognise pests and parasites and other common plant illnesses and take appropriate control measures, using equipment and chemical or natural products, where necessary.

Empathy and the ability to understand and work with secondary aged students with special needs in an educational setting is essential.

This is a permanent role offering an actual salary of £14,231 per annum (£21,293 full time equivalent) based on 28.75 hours per week, Term Time + 1 week inset.
