Technical Author - EV/Marine - £40k to £80k - Northern Ireland

My client is at the forefront of innovation, delivering cutting-edge technology solutions across various industries. We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Author to join our team and create clear, comprehensive, and user-friendly documentation for our products and services.

Role: Technical Author

Salary: £45,000 to £80,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Location: Northern Ireland

The Technical Author will be responsible for producing high-quality technical documentation that meets the needs of our internal and external users. This role requires strong writing skills, technical acumen, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and accessible content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Documentation Creation: Write and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, system operation guides, and product specifications.
  • Content Development: Develop clear and concise documentation tailored to various audiences, including engineers, developers, and end-users.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Review and Edit: Review and edit documentation created by other team members for clarity, consistency, and completeness.
  • Template Design: Develop and maintain documentation templates and standards to ensure uniformity and quality across all documents.
  • Illustration and Diagrams: Create and incorporate diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to enhance understanding of complex technical information.
  • Technical Research: Conduct technical research to stay updated on product changes, industry trends, and best practices in technical writing.
  • Documentation Management: Organize and manage documentation repositories to ensure easy access and version control.
  • User Feedback: Collect and incorporate feedback from users to continually improve documentation quality and usability.
  • Compliance: Ensure all documentation complies with relevant industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Author, Technical Writer, or similar role.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Word, MadCap Flare, or similar.
  • Familiarity with diagramming tools like Microsoft Visio or similar software.
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, or other web technologies is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
