Machine Learning Scientist – NLP - Vice President

The Machine Learning Center of Excellence invites the successfulcandidate to apply sophisticated machine learning methods to a widevariety of complex tasks including natural language processing, speechanalytics, time series, reinforcement learning and recommendationsystems.

The candidate must excel in working in a highlycollaborative environment together with the business, technologistsand control partners to deploy solutions into production. Thecandidate must also have a strong passion for machine learning andinvest independent time towards learning, researching andexperimenting with new innovations in the field. The candidate musthave solid expertise in Deep Learning with hands-on implementationexperience and possess strong analytical thinking, a deep desire tolearn and be highly motivated.

Job Responsibilities

  • Research and explore new machine learning methods throughindependent study, attending industry-leading conferences,experimentation and participating in our knowledge sharing community
  • Develop state-of-the art machine learning models to solvereal-world problems and apply it to tasks such as NLP, speechrecognition and analytics, time-series predictions or recommendationsystems
  • Collaborate with multiple partner teams such asBusiness, Technology, Product Management, Legal, Compliance, Strategyand Business Management to deploy solutions into production
  • Drive Firm wide initiatives by developing large-scale frameworksto accelerate the application of machine learning models acrossdifferent areas of the business

  Requiredqualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • PhD in aquantitative discipline, . Computer Science, Electrical Engineering,Mathematics, Operations Research, Optimization, or Data Science withreasonable industry experience, or an MS with significant industry orresearch experience in the field.
  • Solid background in NLPor speech recognition and analytics, personalization/recommendationand hands-on experience and solid understanding of machine learningand deep learning methods
  • Extensive experience withmachine learning and deep learning toolkits (.: TensorFlow, PyTorch,NumPy, Scikit-Learn, Pandas)
  • Ability to design experimentsand training frameworks, and to outline and evaluate intrinsic andextrinsic metrics for model performance aligned with business goals
  • Experience with big data and scalable model training andsolid written and spoken communication to effectively communicatetechnical concepts and results to both technical and businessaudiences.
  • Scientific thinking with the ability to inventand to work both independently and in highly collaborative teamenvironments
  • Solid written and spoken communication toeffectively communicate technical concepts and results to bothtechnical and business audiences. Curious, hardworking anddetail-oriented, and motivated by complex analytical problems

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Strong background in Mathematics and Statistics and familiaritywith the financial services industries and continuous integrationmodels and unit test development
  • Knowledge insearch/ranking, Reinforcement Learning or Meta Learning
  • Experience with A/B experimentation and data/metric-driven productdevelopment, cloud-native deployment in a large scale distributedenvironment and ability to develop and debug production-quality code
  • Published research in areas of Machine Learning, DeepLearning or Reinforcement Learning at a major conference or journal
