BRIEF SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Product Manager oversees a cross-functional applications team comprised of applications analysts. This position is responsible for planning and executing products as well as services across the product lifecycle. This includes gathering and prioritizing product as well as customer requirements, defining the product vision, and closely collaborating with institutional departments across campus. The Product Manager also acts to ensure that all services as well as products align with plan.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
  • Leads a cross-functional, technical team providing expertise in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems that meet user requirements while remaining cost-effective.
  • Collaborates with leadership to evolve and successfully drive all owned aspects of the IT strategy plan and vision.
  • Develops and maintains project documentation including defined requirements, deliverables, target dates, identified resources, etc.
  • Effectively measures and reports results of team services as well as product development to key stakeholders based upon identified objectives.
  • Facilitates the documentation and execution of both applications’ testing as well as change management.
  • Acts as a servant leader to his/her assigned team by providing coaching, empowerment, and decisiveness to maximize team success.
  • Proactively develops team members with a wide array of skillsets in order to enhance their expertise as well as cultivate engaged personnel delivering innovative services and products.
  • Collaborates with a variety of vendors to facilitate as well as quickly resolve upgrades, application enhancements, outages, and miscellaneous maintenance
  • Provides frequent, continuous, and effective communications with business partners as well as key vendors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to identify and develop appropriate procedures ensuring the integrity of the ERP systems/databases.
  • Knowledge of ITIL methodology and practices, particularly with regard to the product/service lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and Lean/Six Sigma methodology.
  • Knowledge of business analysis as well as applications analysis processes.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and best practices.
  • Ability to effectively lead as well as develop a dynamic and diverse technical team.
  • Ability to think analytically and strategically, evaluating multiple competing user demands as well as system needs in light of the mission objectives.
  • Ability to learn the fundamentals of new applications while remaining current with emerging technologies and practices.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and execute conflict management strategies to navigate challenging situations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally in verbal as well as written communications to a variety of stakeholders and leaders.
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects, ensuring the timely completion of all deliverables and project documentation.
  • Ability to act quickly and decisively in situations requiring immediate action.
  • Knowledge of higher education environments and processes.
  • Ability to organize appropriate resources to address multiple user needs and competing target dates.
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to maintain the confidential and proprietary nature of information.
  • Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, Information Technology, Project Management or related discipline.
  • Three years of supervisory work experience over a functional or technical team.
  • Five years of related work experience in IT technologies.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
  • Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities.
  • Must pass background check.

Preferred:
  • Experience in ERP systems, programming, database management, web development, CRM applications, and/or learning management systems.
  • Experience in ITIL and/or project management.
  • Experience in Higher Education a plus.
  • Experience with Ellucian and/or Workday products a plus
