Role: MCR Engineer

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £35-40,000pa + overtime and bonus

Location: Farringdon

The Role:

  • As a member of the MCR Engineering team you’ll be entrusted with the daily functioning of the MCR
  • You will ensure that everything runs smoothly by constantly providing customers with zero outages and communication
  • Tech and services change regularly, therefore having the ability to be adaptable and flexible is a significant attribute
  • Double checking routing and incident reports
  • You will join an industry leading team of MCR experts that values an extremely high level of service
  • You will be an MCR Engineer, not an MCR Operator and therefore learning and doing more
  • You will be hands on with the equipment in terms of configuring and fault finding
  • You will have the authority and responsibility to make decisions on your own

Responsibilities:

  • Hands on configuration & management of Satellite uplinks, encoders, irds, multiplexers, Conditional Access, AWS, NetInSight, Dektec/Bridgetech/Nevion Transport Stream analysers, Dataminer and so much more.
  • Set up video and Radio Frequency equipment to receive and transmit video services, including first level fault finding and escalation
  • Routing and switching of events based on internal booking system
  • Proactively ensuring all system checks are complete
  • Complete transmission reports (internal & external)
  • Be in direct contact with technology providers and customers
  • Management of IP contribution circuits

Skills Required:

  • Proven ability to work in a high-pressure environment
  • Have the autonomy to be able to work alone as well as part of a team
  • Prior experience working in a Broadcast MCR
  • Commercial experience with Satellite uplinks, encoders, irds, multiplexers, Conditional Access, AWS, NetInSight, Dektec/Bridgetech/Nevion Transport Stream analysers, Dataminer

Skills Preferred:

  • Experience of the UK sports broadcasting industry would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of cloud distribution platforms such as AWS
