The Senior Network Engineer role reports to the Global IT leadership. The candidate will be a technology expert within the UK Secure IT organization, and is responsible for deploying & maintaining technology required to meet the company’s growing IT requirements, customer certifications, audit compliance, regulatory assessments, and customer requirements. The individual also interacts with Infrastructure Engineers and Operations for specific project work, ensuring strong alignment, partnership and focus on the defined IT priorities.
UK Government Networking Infrastructure
Implementing, supporting, and maintaining networking infrastructure systems, primarily focused on the Cisco networking and security platforms, in order to support the Iron Mountain business partnership with the UK Government Sector
Implement and maintain advanced Data Center Network Technologies to enhance security posture, including but not limited to:Network SegmentationNext Generation Firewall and Security Threat ProtectionSD-WAN TechnologiesContent Delivery (Load Balancing)Monitoring and Reporting ToolsAdvanced Tools for Flow Mappings
Full lifecycle management for all equipment in Iron Mountain UK Secure Data Centers and UK Field offices
Participation on Project Teams:Reviewing and assisting with the development of project deployment plans
Guides and mentors fellow network administrators, engineers, and project team members on related topics
Project execution, including partnering with PM, Risk Management, QA Testing, and production roll-outs
Oversight of networking asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation
Maintains documentation for the networking infrastructure
Knowledge of Advanced Content Delivery Platforms, such as F5 and Riverbed
Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
Anticipates developments in the field / deployments, in order to support continuous improvement
Network Engineer isexpected to develop knowledge of the organization's business line and products, underlying infrastructure services and platforms on premises, and optimize these platforms to maximize efficiency and business value.
Identifies and works proactively with all levels of the organization to mitigate risks and issues. Collaborates with Support teams, Subject Matter Experts and Project Managers to develop and implement realistic short term and long term solutions.
Willingly applies their knowledge of best practice while maintaining a flexible approach that enables and encourages collaboration across teams and functional areas.
