Permanent Electrical Technician

We have a great opportunity for a career-minded individual to join our waste team as the Electrical Technician at Earlswood STW.
As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical and mechanical plant equipment.
You will also be working in a multi-discipline team and will be responsible for carrying- out scheduled, unscheduled and emergency maintenance work on Electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician
You will be expected to provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, gearboxes, screw /chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training.
38 hours per week Monday-Friday.7:30 am -3:36 pm plus the inclusion onto a standby rota for which you will receive additional Payment.
All PPE, Tools Plus and Van will be provided.
18th Edition Electrical City and Guilds Certification or equivalent is crucial.
Ideally an apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems working in a ‘true multi-skilled capacity.
Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modifying or repairing Electrical plant equipment.
Ideally experience maintaining large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems such as VSD and 3-phase electrical switchgear is essential.
You will need the ability to work in confined spaces and will require the completion of appropriate training for this.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
Competitive Salary up to £36,800 per annum depending on your level of experience.
24 days holiday per year increasing to 28 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
