We are Centrica We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising a cleaner, greener future. Working here is #MoreThanACareer - we’re powered by purpose. Together we can make an impact that will truly change tomorrow. Whether you’re developing cutting-edge green tech, helping customers on the front line or simplifying operations behind the scenes.

Your work here isn’t just a job – it’s a mission. We all play a vital role in energising a greener, fairer future .

An opportunity to play your part – Centrica Energy Storage+ (CES+) stands as a cornerstone within the UK Energy sector, operating the nation's largest gas storage facility to fortify energy system resilience. With bold aspirations, CES+ aims to evolve into the world's foremost hydrogen storage facility over the next decade to bolster UK energy ambitions. As the Interim Energy Transition Procurement Lead (CPL), you will assume full responsibility for spearheading and executing procurement and project management practices of the highest standard to support the CES+ project's redevelopment of the Rough storage facility. This role entails close collaboration with the designated Project Management Company (PMC).

The Rough Redevelopment project (RougH2) is poised to significantly augment the UK's storage capacity. With the current offshore infrastructure nearing four decades in operation, the project necessitates new infrastructure to ensure longevity. An advanced, remotely operated platform will supplant the existing offshore platform, accompanied by the drilling of 16 new wells to enhance flow. Moreover, the project entails the installation of two new subsea pipelines connecting to the Easington Gas Terminal for processing. Onshore injection compression facilities will be newly installed to facilitate expanded gas storage capacity.

This ambitious program aims to have the new infrastructure operational by 2028, with construction occurring concurrently with the operation of existing assets. The transition from old to new operations is slated for completion in 2028.

Location:  UK (talk to us about flexible working)

The day to day –

  • Oversee all procurement aspects of the project, encompassing the development of high-level procurement strategies for the considered development concept(s), materials management, logistics planning, resource allocation for procurement as the project advances, management of long lead items, and formulation of strategies for procuring operating spares.
  • Foster and manage the relationship with the PMC and supply partners to ensure project alignment with the Business’ strategic objectives in line with the Centrica Supplier Relationship Management framework.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between CES stakeholders and the PMC, as well as supply partners.
  • Take proactive measures in identifying and mitigating project risks, with comprehensive reporting on risk management activities.
  • Ensure timely and comprehensive project status reporting from the PMC, facilitating clear communication among all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Centrica, including Group Procurement, to capitalize on synergies and provide necessary support for project success.
  • Champion safety performance at CES+ through personal leadership and direct engagement with stakeholders and supply partners involved in the project.
  • Spearhead all contract management activities, including pre-award contract review, contract administration, variations, and approvals.
  • Ensure alignment between procurement activities and the Project Quality Plan, actively contributing to and leading relevant areas.
  • Provide coaching and support to the procurement and contract team at CES+, fostering their development for future success.
  • This role offers flexible working arrangements, although some presence at the CES+ offices in Hessle is required .

About you

  • Proficient in leading projects within a complex matrix organization, demonstrating adaptability and agility in navigating ambiguity and effectively engaging stakeholders at various levels.
  • Proactively driven and self-motivated, with a talent for rallying teams toward shared objectives.
  • Capable of effective planning and forward-thinking, ensuring holistic project success beyond immediate initiatives.
