Job Description

As a Teacher of Maths, you will be required to meet the generalrequirements of this post, as specified in the School Teachers’ Pay andConditions Document. In addition, youwill be required to fulfil any reasonable expectations from the Headteacher.

The post will require you to work in partnership with the Headteacher,Senior Leadership Team, governors and staff to ensure the continuousimprovement of the School.

As a Teacher of Maths, you will be required to meet the generalrequirements of this post, as specified in the School Teachers’ Pay andConditions Document. In addition, youwill be required to fulfil any reasonable expectations from the Headteacher.

The post will require you to work in partnership with the Headteacher,Senior Leadership Team, governors and staff to ensure the continuousimprovement of the School.

This role will also require the post holder to work in other schoolsettings under the direction of the Headteacher.

This post requires the postholder to work in settings with children and young adults. Any employment offeris therefore subject to the results of an Enhanced Disclosure from theDisclosure and Barring Service (DBS). People who may have contact with youngerchildren (i.e. primary school age) are also required to complete a declarationabout family or other members of their household. Applicants MUST complete theMAT’s standard application form to be considered, will be required to provideevidence of identity and qualifications and offers of employment will besubject to satisfactory references. For applicants who work or have recentlyworked in a school, one of the references must be from the Headteacher.

Key outputs

1. To implement and deliver an appropriately broad,balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students’ and support adesignated department or curriculum/subject area as appropriate.

2. To monitor and support the overall progress anddevelopment of students as a teacher and form tutor, setting studentsindividual improvement goals as appropriate.

3. To facilitate and encourage a learning experiencewhich provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individualpotential.

4. To contribute to raising standards or studentachievement and attainment.

5. To share and support the school’s responsibility toprovide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.

6. To promote and actively support the school’sresponsibilities towards safeguarding.

7. To prepare and regularly update subject materials

8. To ensure that ICT, Literacy, Numeracy and subjectspecialism(s) are reflected in the teaching and learning experience ofstudents.

9. To set regular, relevant and challenging homeworktasks.

10. To teachstudents according to their educational needs, including the setting andmarking of work to be carried out by students in school and elsewhere.

11. Tomaintain discipline in accordance with the school’s procedures and to encouragegood practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour standards of work andhomework.

12. To ensurethe learning needs of individual students are met, particularly vulnerablegroups, such as those with SEN, disabilities or disadvantages students.

13. Wherenecessary, to liaise with parents and others to support students.

14. Toprovide regular, high-quality feedback to students that supports futurelearning and progress.

15. To undertake assessment of students as requested byexternal examination bodies, departmental and school procedures.

16. To assess, record and reports on the attendance,progress, development and attainment of students and to keep such records asare required.

17. To usethe outcomes of on-going assessment to help shape future planning.

18. To self-evaluate and undertake professionaldevelopment to help achieve the highest possible standards in role.

19.To reward and celebrate students’ success.

20.Toattend meeting and complete additional administration tasks as required by therole.

Toundertake any other duties associated with the role, as may be decided by yourline manager or the Headteacher.

· Qualified Teacher Status

· Degree or equivalent
