Estimator - Civil Engineering & Asphalt Surfacing
About Us: Our client is a leading civil engineering and surfacing company dedicated to delivering high-quality projects across Exeter and surrounding areas. With a commitment to excellence and innovation, we specialize in a wide range of civil engineering and surfacing services, including road construction, pavement maintenance, and infrastructure development. Our team is comprised of skilled professionals who are passionate about their work and strive to exceed client expectations on every project.
Position Overview: As an Estimator, you will play a key role in the success of our projects by providing accurate and competitive cost estimates for upcoming civil engineering and surfacing endeavors. Working closely with our project managers, engineers, and clients, you will be responsible for analysing project requirements, conducting site visits, and assessing materials and labour costs to prepare comprehensive estimates that align with project goals and budget constraints.
Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand project requirements.
Conduct site visits to assess project scope, conditions, and potential challenges.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather relevant information for estimating purposes.
Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to generate accurate estimates.
Review and analyze subcontractor bids and proposals to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
Participate in bid reviews and negotiations to secure new projects and contracts.
Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and project documentation.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
Proven experience as an Estimator in the civil engineering or construction industry.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex project requirements and specifications.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in estimating and cost analysis.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
