Job Description

Vertex Search are seeking a mid-senior level Application Support Engineer/Analyst with great coding and problem-solving skills for our FS client in London. If successful you'll be the go-to expert supporting exceptional staff from traders, operations and pricing teams to ensure their technology runs smoothly.

Your Role:

  • Resolve Complex Issues: Troubleshoot and fix intricate technical problems, providing first and second-line support and escalating when necessary.
  • Operational Excellence: Work to ensure seamless operation of batch processes which underpin the business functions.
  • Bridge technology and finance: Collaborate with traders, actuaries, technologists, and more. Prior finance experience is a requirement
  • Efficiency: Improve system functionality, build tools, and prevent recurring problems.
  • Mentoring (senior candidates only): Guide junior staff, sharing your knowledge to shape their growth.

Your Background:

  • 4+ Years' Experience: Proven track record in financial services application support.
  • Deep Technical Skills: Debugging, stack traces, and a client-focused approach.
  • Cloud Knowledge: Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Coding & Data Skills: Python (or similar) proficiency and strong SQL skills. Need to be able to write more than scripts to be successful.
  • Team Player: Exceptional comms skills are necessary, with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams across the business.
  • Bonus points for fixed income and/or derivatives knowledge.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
