The Deputy Director for Finance offers a fantastic opportunity for ambitious individuals to develop their skills and hone their experiences, providing a platform for their future career progression. The Deputy Director will play a key role in developing the Finance team; embedding modern-day systems and processes to improve financial control, budget monitoring, and financial sustainability across the Council.
As Deputy Director for Finance, you will directly lead the Finance Management Team, guiding and upskilling them through significant changes. You will be at the forefront of the Financial Recovery initiative within the Council's Improvement and Recovery Plan (IRP), playing a vital part in responding to the Government's intervention and the implications of the Section 114 Notice issued in 2023. Our ideal candidate will hold a CCAB or CIMA recognised accounting qualification and have extensive post-qualification experience in senior finance management roles, demonstrating a track record of providing strategic direction and leadership in financial planning within a Local Government setting.
With a deep understanding of financial regulations and governance principles, you have the expertise to navigate complex policy environments while maintaining political awareness.
Your proven ability to lead teams in delivering accurate financial statements and comprehensive commentary, along with your adeptness in implementing change will lead to your success.
