Are you enthusiastic about developing your nursing career? Are you looking to establish yourself in a role providing leadership and management to junior team members? We are currently recruiting for a Band 6 Junior Sister / Charge Nurse on Ward 15 at the Alexandra Hospital.
Ward 15 is a busy 16 bed acute medical ward. As a Sister/ Charge Nurse you will be expected to support the management structure to provide a consistent high standard of nursing practice with particular emphasis on quality and clinical standards.
The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills, with a willingness to develop managerial skills in order to be both a role model and mentor, supporting the wider nursing team.

To lead the nursing team in the provision of high quality, research based, nursing care that is patient focussed.
Provide support to the Ward Manager in the general management of staff including delivering appraisal reviews, managing the off duty, recruitment selection, and the supervision of junior members of staff.
Utilise clinical audit systems to help monitor and improve standards of care throughout the division and to highlight areas of concern.
To foster a multidisciplinary approach to patient care in line with Clinical Governance and provide leadership on the Trusts values and behaviours.

To be responsible for clinical and non-clinical management of a ward area in the absence of the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse.
Establish and maintain effective communication and foster good working relationships with all multidisciplinary teams, both internal and external.
For example, breaking bad news to patients, giving complex information about procedures and their outcomes, dealing with performance issues, holding staff meetings. Deal effectively with comments, complaints, or incidents that affect staff and users of the ward in accordance with complaints, risk management, or human resources procedures.
Bring to the attention of the Senior Sister/Charge any factors which may adversely affect patient care or service provision.

Ability to identify and manage risk
