This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced Cancer Nurse to lead the professional development of a forward thinking Cancer non-medical workforce and be part of an innovative and dynamic cancer services management team in a Teaching Hospital with a proven commitment to cancer with excellent results and opportunities .


The post holder will be enabled to utilise all four pillars of advanced practice to support workforce development and offer the best possible outcomes for our patients and their families ensuring optimum, quality, safety and performance.


The Trust Lead Cancer Nurse will with be responsible for the delivery of the cancer workforce agenda in particular nursing across the organisation, aligning with national, regional and local cancer priorities and interdependencies. They will act as an expert practitioner in cancer nursing, providing leadership and strategic direction on relevant issues as well as providing professional accountability to the Trust's cancer nurse specialists. They will uphold the reputation of the profession and adhere to the NMC codes of conduct, making the care of all people their first concern.


The post-holder will play a pivotal role as part of the Trust's Cancer Management Team and will ensure quality remains at the heart of cancer pathways as well as helping to ensure delivery models achieve compliance with national Cancer Waiting Times standards, NICE IOG and service specifications National Cancer Planning Guidance and National Quality Surveillance standards.


The Trust Lead Cancer Nurse will be an active member of relevant forums across the SYB& ND Cancer Alliance, as well as at 'Place' and will ensure the cancer nursing agenda is represented at key governance, educational and improvement groups.

Evidence of CPD in line with professional regulatory guidance


Significant demonstrable operational experience in a senior Nursing management position.
Experience of working in an Acute Hospital Environment in a leadership role
