Leonardo UK is a leader in the field of airborne sensing and Defensive Aids equipment on military platforms around the world. This Project Engineering Lead (PEL) vacancy is within the Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) sector in the NATO JEWCS Project, and is responsible for the success of the engineering activities on their assigned project. The PEL leads on a day-to-day basis on the Work Packages assisgned by the Project Engineering Manager (PEM). The PEL is responsible for providing their team with clear expectations of the engineering outcomes, ensuring that they operate consistently within the Policies & Procedures and to foster the improvement goals defined by the Engineering Function.
The PEL works with the Project Engineering Manager and ensures they are kept informed of the engineering status (progress, spend, risks, metrics) and supports the IPTL in internal and external engagements.
The PEL helps develop their Engineering Team providing mentoring, coaching and setting objectives and appraising them of their performance through the PDM process and regular
This opportunity could be based from the Luton, and can benefit from hybrid-working.
Lead the Engineering aspects of the Project, ensuring technical quality, schedule and budget 
Management of cross-site, multi-disciplined engineering teams, ensuring that roles within the teams are clearly defined 
Create a positive working relationship with customers and partners, to deliver project capability 
Establish and maintain good lines of communication internally across the Engineering IPT, with the IPT lead, Project Manager, functional heads 
Work closely with the Systems Design Authority ensuring they are fully informed on technical progress, technical risk and any mitigation strategies 
Control project configuration and change management to ensure design reuse is maximised. 

Support the management of Suppliers and project Make or Buy decisions 
Travel within the UK,, working alongside other teams within Leonardo, Customers (MoD), End Users and Industry Partners.
Experience in engineering management and delivery of projects 
Engineering or scientific Degree qualification (or equivalent) 
Commercial and business awareness 
Requirements elicitation and defining software products 
Agile Systems Engineering: Apply and develop your knowledge of systems engineering in a fast-paced and dynamic agile development team.
Defence Electronics Expertise: Leonardo has subject-matter experts with extensive and detailed knowledge of the RF, EOIR and Communications domains, technology, performance, and operational capabilities.
