We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy department at The London Clinic, based at our main hospital site in London (W1G 6JA). We are offering a competitive salary range (Band 8d NHS equivalent) starting from £85,000 per annum dependant on experience.
Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest private hospitals, with 8 state-of-the-art facilities, and circa 1350 employees where we are dedicated to providing our patients with expert, individualised treatment and care. Our main hospital spans 8 floors comprising of 150+ patient beds and 10 operating theatres, including a Hybrid theatre and two minimally invasive/day surgery theatres. Speciality areas include, General surgery; ENT; Gynaecology; Hepatobiliary; Neuro-spinal; Ophthalmic; Orthopaedic; Plastic and reconstructive; Robotic; Urology; Vascular & Weight loss surgery (bariatric surgery).
Job Profile
As the Chief Pharmacist you will play a pivotal role within the senior clinical management team being responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of pharmacy services and optimisation of medicines across the organisation.
This will require a highly motivated, passionate and experienced leader who will be able to identify and implement strategic development and service improvement including transformation.
The post will report directory to the Medical Director and provide visibility and leadership for pharmacy services and medicines optimisation together with the pharmacy leads, across the organisation. Providing direct line management of the Pharmacy leads team, inspiring and motivating the pharmacy teams to have the skills, authority and autonomy they need to deliver outstanding Pharmacy services. As well as developing and maintaining safe and evidence-based medicines management practices which comply with appropriate regulatory bodies including clinical, risk, quality and financial parameters.
- Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.
- Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday; 9am-5.30pm
- Job Location: 20 Devonshire Place, London, W1G 6BW (Close to Regents Park/Baker St tube stations).
- Salary: Band 8d NHS equivalent

Key Duties
- Registered as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Evidence of commitment to CPD
- Senior experience in managing pharmacy services
- Significant and senior experience in delivering advanced level clinical pharmacy services to a specialist area
- Significant experience in transformation and delivering improvements to pharmacy services
- Strong knowledge of all regulatory and governance arrangements for medicines
- Out of hours support of team in an urgent/emergency scenario
Skills and experience
- Senior experience in managing pharmacy services
- Significant experience in delivering advanced level clinical pharmacy services to a specialist area.
- Managing pharmacy services to an agreed budget
- Significant experience in delivering improvements to pharmacy services
- Senior experience in managing and deploying resources effectively
- Knowledge and understanding of leadership of people for engagement, retention and people development
- Broad based general clinical pharmacy experience
