International Scholarships Manager

Bristol, United Kingdom City of Bristol College Full time

The International Partnership & Relations (Scholarships & Sponsors) team is responsible for all aspects of the University’s relationship with international funders, as well as managing the University’s own International Scholarship Programmes. It is a busy team and although our work is cyclical in nature, the changing funding landscape keeps us on our toes and drives us to be innovative and focused on continuous improvement.

The International Scholarships Manager is an exciting role and a vital one in driving the development of the University of Bristol’s flagship scholarship scheme, Think Big, into the next chapter; ensuring systems are in place across the University to support incoming scholars as well as monitoring the impact of the scholarship programme against the University’s ambitious internationalisation agenda.

We are a results-driven team with high standards, but we support each other and also like to have some fun along the way. The successful applicant will be a positive and decisive leader for the Scholarships team and will ensure the success of the Think Big scholarship programme.

What will you be doing?

It is an exciting time to be joining us. You will be leading a team of 3 staff to deliver ambitious plans to support the best and brightest international students at the University.

Within the first 12 months you can expect to have:

  • Successfully managed the 2025 cycle of Think Big scholarships – including the application, promotion and selection of candidates.
  • Launched a new international marketing campaign and toolkit for our Think Big scholarship, in collaboration with marketing colleagues at the University.
  • Managed the Think Big Development Programme in collaboration with our external delivery partner, building on the success of previous years.
  • Designed and delivered a range of scholar events to facilitate a sense of community among the Think Big cohort.
  • Developed an engagement plan for Think Big alumni.
You should apply if

You are an enthusiastic and proactive role model for our scholarships team; someone who has a positive ‘can do’ attitude and can bring people alongside them even when working in a busy and complex environment. We are very keen to hear from people with experience in scholarship management either with international students or charitable organisations. Either way, you will be used to delivering large programmes of activity working in collaboration with others. You will have a strong business acumen and the ability to influence and negotiate in order to help secure future funding for our international scholarship programmes.

The ideal candidate will be ideas-driven and will enjoy working with multiple stakeholders. A keen eye for detail is a must, but this will be complemented by the ability to see the bigger picture and drive forward strategic change for this important area of work, helping the University deliver their internationalisation agenda.

Please detail how your skills, qualifications and experiences align with the criteria specified in the person specification in the job description within your supporting statement.

Please note the role involves travel across the UK and occasionally to international locations.

We offer a hybrid working arrangement for this role – 2 days minimum in the office.

Contract type: Open Ended
