6WTE Orthoptist to join us for a fixed term period of 12 months to cover maternity leave, starting September 2024. This post will suit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Orthoptist to join the department based at Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth. The Ophthalmology department has 15 Ophthalmologists, four of which specialise in paediatric ophthalmology and ocular motility.
Clinically you will be supporting both adult and paediatric orthoptic services, the department supports the Trusts Stroke services and we are an accredited placement site. To diagnose and treat ocular motility and vision function and binocular vision problems in adults and children as an autonomous practitioner. To be responsible for planning and implementing orthoptic treatment plans/ care pathways for patients of all ages. Perform Visual Fields testing on Humphrey and Octopus perimeters and fundus photography and OCT on patients referred by Ophthalmology, paediatrics and neurology. Screening at satellite clinics. To work as part of a flexible team.
Experience of single handed clinics both acute and community.
