We're searching for a passionate individual to provide dynamic leadership to our Ophthalmic Nursing team, while delivering top-notch, evidence-based care to our diverse multidisciplinary team.


In this role, you'll carry out various forms of care and procedures autonomously, showcasing your expertise and proficiency without the need for direct supervision. As a leader within our ophthalmic outpatient team, you'll set the standard for excellence and ensure that every patient receives the highest quality of care. You will also participate in Ophthalmic clinics held across both sites.

The post holder will act as leader in the ophthalmic outpatients team and be professionally accountable for the standard of care in that department. To provide Ophthalmic Nursing advice, clinical education, and Nursing development within the department, within a clinical Governance Framework. Function as a professional role model for the Nursing team, demonstrating clinical and managerial skill. Ensure staff work within current polices and guidelines to meet the requirements of statutory bodies and the Trust Maintain standards of conduct to sustain public confidence in accordance with NMC code of Professional conduct and Trust Policies. Participate in the training and development needs of staff to ensure the team is equipped to fulfil the needs of the service and that individuals have equitable access to development opportunities. Demonstrate a high commitment to professional and personal development to ensure that professional competencies are maintained and developed to continue to meet the needs of the service. oAppropriate NMC Registration
oDiploma or Degree in Nursing
oEvidence of continuing professional education or development in area of speciality
oMinimum of 2 years' experience in ophthalmology

oAwareness of recent advances within Nursing practice
oKnowledge of Clinical Governance and safeguarding and the relevance to practice
oKnowledge of relevant policies and procedures
oExperience of implementing changes to benefit patients and improve nursing practice
oEvidence of clinical competence in area of speciality eg surgery
