Head of Security

Trident have partnered with a global threat intelligence organisation to find a Head of Security.
The Head of Security will have a strong background in cyber intelligence and will be responsible for the creation, deployment, and maintenance of these controls, ensuring top-tier security standards within the commercial product architecture and CI/CD pipeline.
This leadership role requires a proactive, hands-on approach to information security, software development, SRE, and IT support, as well as support for internal and external audits, incident handling, disaster recovery, and other critical initiatives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a small team of cybersecurity engineers to ensure the protection of internal and external-facing systems.
- Embed security principles in the architecture and design of external-facing applications by providing expert technical guidance.
- Ensure security standards are upheld in the CI/CD pipeline.
- Collaborate closely with DevOps and Engineering leaders to align technology, security, and business objectives.
- Support ongoing operational and strategic information security initiatives, including compliance projects.
- Handle customer security inquiries and questionnaires.
- Manage and execute internal audits related to logical access, system and network hardening, and other essential technical controls.
- Develop and sustain an organization-wide information security awareness program.
- Establish and maintain information security policies and procedures in line with industry standards, offering key input to the compliance department (e.g., ISO27001, SOC2).
- Implement and oversee a risk-based security assessment program for critical assets.
- Maintain and update standards-based control documentation, including evidence of control effectiveness.
- Stay informed on emerging technical security threats and communicate relevant risks to management.
- Utilize an agile approach to integrating information security principles across the organization.
- Work in conjunction with other departments to ensure consistent application and adoption of information security best practices.
- Provide assistance in responding to security-related queries from clients, vendors, and other third parties as requested by management.
Education, Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in Information Security.
- Industry-recognized security certification is advantageous.
- Experience collaborating with global, distributed, and remote teams.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing security controls.
- Knowledge of security best practices aligned with industry standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to simplify and present complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to thrive in a flexible, agile environment, adhering to deadlines.
- Experience negotiating with third-party vendors and other service providers.
- Strong understanding of the risk-management aspects of system implementation.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure management, setup, and troubleshooting.
