Currently we’re searching for a Protection and Control engineer to support one of our largest Renewable clients across their portfolio of assets. This role is being offered on a 12-month rolling contract. Experience working within the Transmission & Distribution industry with a technical background is essential.

Required:

  1. Knowledge of transmission (National Grid) HV design process and related project experience.
  2. Extensive experience (approximately 8 years) in P&C FEED or detailed design of high voltage installations (132kV to 400kV).
  3. Experience designing the HV infrastructure across the full project lifecycle from feasibility to detailed design.
  4. Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects.

Technical Aspects:

  • Project Development/Pre-construction:
    • Development of optimum cable routes considering length, thermal conditions, land use.
    • Development of specifications with technology-specific specialists and external project partners.
    • Tender evaluations.
  • Technical assessment and Design Assurance:
    • Design input to consenting team, converter, civil, marine.
    • Participate in design meetings.
  • Tender:
    • Tender specification development.
    • Design assurance of tender return documentation.
    • Design assurance during tender evaluation.
    • Supplier meetings.
  • Construction:
    • Design Assurance - Reviewing supplier technical designs.
    • Manufacturing assurance audits that manufacturing is following technical design, attending FAT.
    • Commissioning support - Fault resolution support.
