Commissioning Editor/Senior Commissioning Editor, Rizzoli Universe (full-time)

We are looking for a talented and highly creative Commissioning Editor or Senior Commissioning Editor for our Rizzoli Universe lifestyle imprint to bring to life concepts for a design-driven global audience. This is a new role and a rare opportunity to join a highly respected illustrated publisher with exceptional brand recognition.

In this role you will be commissioning in the areas of pop culture and lifestyle. You will be part of an entrepreneurial, dynamic team and be motivated by creating stand-out books and related products that deliver commercial success. Cultural awareness and an ability to pinpoint trends with an enduring appeal will come naturally to you.

What We’re Looking For

The role will be particularly suitable to someone who has:

  • A talent for spotting emerging trends with enduring appeal that deliver commercial success.
  • Experience in conceiving, commissioning and acquiring highly visual, beautifully packaged illustrated titles.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with authors, agents, and freelancers.
  • Strong editorial skills to assess and provide constructive feedback on manuscripts, guide authors through the editorial process and brief external freelancers, including designers.
  • Outstanding project management abilities, at ease with prioritising tasks, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
