Evelina London Children's Hospital in partnership with Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, has an exciting new opportunity to work as a Roald Dahl CMC Clinical Nurse Specialist and join our COMPASS team who care for children and young people with medical complexity.

In addition to being part of the existing COMPASS team at Evelina London, you will receive support from Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity including training opportunities and peer support from the network of Roald Dahl Specialists.

Main duties of the job

The Roald Dahl CNS will join the well established Evelina COMPASS multidisciplinary team who support the most medically complex children throughout their inpatient stay and ensure they have all the support they need to safely transition from Evelina.

You will ensure effective leadership and coordination of the care of children with medical complexity who often have multiple professionals involved in their care. The CNS role is the key point of contact for a caseload of children and young people with medical complexity and your excellent communication skills will improve the care experience for children and families.

Job responsibilities

Taking the lead and ability to act on your own initiative is critical, with an ability to assess and plan how to meet goals and objectives for yourself and other service users in a fast paced environment.

You will have outstanding communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with families and across a variety of multidisciplinary teams. You will foster and encourage collaborative working with all stakeholders in the children and families health journey to improve both the experience of care and the coordination of care to safely reduce the child's length of admission.

  • RN Child registered Nurse on the NMC register
  • Post registration qualification relevant for caring for children with complex medical conditions
  • Mentorship qualification

  • Extensive experience of working autonomously at an advanced level within the specialist area delivering effective patient focused care
