Senior Network Engineer – DWDM

Are you a Senior Network Engineer with specialist experience within Transmission and DWDM technologies including RLS, ROADM, transponders, including Ciena products .

This role will involve hybrid working and can be based out of either Milton Keynes or Manchester sites.

As a senior network engineer, you will be involved in the end-to-end lifecycle from design to developing scalable and secure solutions at pace.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Design and development of solutions to meet internal and external requirements
  • Utilising skills, knowledge and expertise to solve complex technical problems
  • Subject matter expert within DWDM
  • Lead teams/ projects

Key skills required:

  • In-depth knowledge of Transmission DWDM Technologies e.g. RLS, ROADM, and transponder with various vendors including Ciena.
  • Experience of restful APIs, and JSON. (preferable)
  • Knowledge of routing protocols and data networks. (preferable)
  • Understanding of layer 2 and 3 technologies, with focus on Ethernet, MPLS, and TCP/IP (preferable)
  • Experience in the use of Transmission management platforms, and inventory systems.Experience with Ciena MCP sought.
  • Experience of mixed vendor environments, product life cycle, and technology migrations
  • Experience in the delivery of Transmission networks in line with design documents

Additional skills of interest:

  • Experience of feature, compliance, and regression testing
  • Programming skills, especially Python etc.
  • Software tools such as Splunk, Jira, and Ansible etc.
  • Network monitoring and security
