With multiple sites in Shalford, Dunsfold, Warwick and a new purpose-built HQ on its way in Windlesham, the Gordon Murray Group continues to grow with multiple vehicle programmes currently in development. As a result, we currently have exciting opportunities for a Senior Exterior Designer to join the Creative team based in Shalford, Surrey.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Create and deliver engaging and innovative design proposals on time and within budget.
  • Develop your 2D concepts into 3D data through clear direction to our experienced digital surfacing team.
  • Assist more junior designers with their knowledge and development.
  • Work closely with the engineering departments and suppliers to deliver production feasible designs.
  • Ensure timely completion of all design milestones, encompassing internal and external releases and gateways.
  • Represent the Studio team at technical/senior meetings as required.
  • Maintain an awareness of trends and developments in furniture, fashion, and architecture design, and apply that knowledge to automotive design.
  • Assist the development of GMG brand/design guidelines.

    Experience & Qualifications

    • BA or MA in Automotive Design or equivalent.
    • Exceptional ability to interpret and translate concepts seamlessly from 2D to 3D
    • In-depth familiarity with automotive design processes, with essential experience spanning the creative phase, concept car development, and production.
    • Self-driven and hands-on with the desire to help with tasks outside your remit to assist the team.
    • Excellent communication and strong presentation skills both verbally and visually.
    • A high-quality design approach with thorough attention to detail.
    • A strategic mindset and good understanding of the current sportscar design landscape.
    • Clear and effective communication skills with internal and external clients.
    • Must be a team player.
    • Adaptable
    • Strategic thinking in design and product strategy
    • Disciplined and methodical.
    • Deadline driven and able to self-manage workload.
    • Working exceptionally well under pressure.
    • Possess strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
    • Software experience in the following: -
    • Polygon modelling experience - Blender or Alias subD.
    • Microsoft office.
    • To perform any other duties that may well be reasonably expected within the remit of the role.
    • To ensure compliance with the Health & Safety Policy requirements within areas of responsibility.
    • In addition to the above responsibilities the job also involves similar duties to be conducted for any future subsidiary companies within the Gordon Murray Group.
