Automation & Controls Engineer

Our customer is an ambitious advanced manufacturing company with game changing technology, and critically a team with the imagination and drive to become a global composites manufacturer.

Our customer produces the lightest structures & components for Automotive and Aerospace OEM's. They use a breakthrough automated process, that unlocks the performance of carbon fibre and composites for the first time, offering unparalleled weight and cost savings.

They have a proven technology that can deliver real-life production components at industrial scale with potential to rival metals in aerospace. We provide end-to-end solutions, supporting our customers from concept development and product design all the way to advanced manufacturing and integration of components within their vehicle platforms.

The company has completed multiple technology validation programmes (with the European Space Agency, Airbus, Jaguar Land Rover, BAE Systems, F1 Teams) and is in the process of executing on the first production opportunities with leading OEMs. Supporting other team members during design, build and testing of the system.
Supporting acceptance testing and onsite commissioning for customer sales.
Participating in Project Specifications to participate in a full life cycle design process.
Writing software for PLCs, SCADA and HMIs.
Working between a number of departments to ensure smooth communication and efficient delivery of projects.
New machine commissioning at our facility in Bristol
On site commissioning at customers site during installation
Out of hours support in a rota structure when required (max 1 week in 4).
We appreciate relevant engineering qualifications, but we equally value practical hands on experience.
PLC Programming experience (Beckhoff preferable, although others will be considered [Allen-Bradley, Siemens etc])
Willing to travel for on-site commission work (Estimated 10% of time)
Languages

IEC (phone number removed) Structured Text and Sequential Function Chart (Essential)
C#, SQL, HTML 5, Rapid (ABB Robot) (all highly desirable)
Full time position, competitive salary range depending on skills & experience, company pension scheme, 33 days holiday (including UK bank holidays), company events etc.

This is a site-based opportunity and is a UK based position with opportunities to work in a hybrid manner where appropriate.
