Finance Business Partner - Underwriting
To Partner with the Business and liaise across all functional teams to deliver:
Improved impact and understanding of financial reporting on business performance
Effective financial planning & analysis
Analysis and insight that links financial reports to business strategies
Explanation (to UW community) how commercial performance translated into financial performance
Building partnerships and maintaining strong relationships across the UW community
Feed commercial & planning insights gathered in discussions with UW back into CRA teams to provide input for plan & MI packs
Effective commercial procedures, or initiating change, to ensure key operational, commercial and financial targets are delivered
Supporting the Finance ambition to become an automated process led department, through process standardization, application of new technology and leveraging digitisation and automation opportunities. Utilise dashboard suite to communicate Financial performance to UW and train UW to enable self service
Support MRSG UW community throughout all business planning cycles including Munich AP, Lloyd's SBF; discuss & support forecasting activities with the UW community, actuarial and other relevant teams
Run MRSG UW community through quarterly actual result performance including performance driver discussion on different financial reporting basis; explain bridging between different financial reporting basis to UW community where required; explain actual performance vs UW targets
Build partnerships & relationships across MRSG UW community and across other (mainly across Finance, Actuarial, RI , Exposure management); closely cooperate with other CRA department functions to establish two way communication around commercial insights, plans and financial performance
Provide business insight through financial performance analysis to drive & inform UW
Ad-hoc class specific analysis (internally and / or externally market focused); provide insight which is unavailable through the standard finance and business MI suite as required (inclusion of non-financial / operational / rating related data)
Stay informed / be close to wider market trends, competition, regulation which will help to support well informed business decision making and dialogues with UW
Take into account wider considerations than just financials when providing UW business partnering - people, processes, commercial arrangements, market cycle & trends, wider Munich Re Group
Support transformation initiatives / transaction support where required
Assisting UW community in other areas where appropriate and deliver any other ad-hoc tasks as assigned including project work and deep dive reviews
Help drive forward good Conduct for the business to deliver the best outcomes for customers / policyholders.
Business/Commercial acumen and ability to understand full financial result on different reporting basis and how commercial performance impacts financial result on different basis
Highly developed budgeting, forecasting and business analysis skills
A mind set taking into account wider considerations than just the financials - people, processes, commercial arrangements, broader market, wider Munich Re Group
Hands on and proactive attitude to pursue tasks where value for the business can be added
Analytical skills to make sense out of sets of data from various sources and identify critical KPI's, key messages and ability to formulate recommendations
A strong academic record
Accountancy qualification ACCA, CIMA, ACA (preferred)
