Ideal candidate
• Strong GCSE results in Maths, Sciences and English (Level 7 and above).
• Studying Maths / Physics / Design Technology at A-Level, or studying a BTEC or T-Level in
Engineering / Construction and expected to achieve a Merit / Distinction.
• A broad interest in Engineering and Construction.
• Excellent communication skills, an inquisitive mind and commitment to learn.

Role description
• You will gain experience, working on live projects.
• We believe site experience is invaluable and actively encourage our colleagues to visit site and get a
real understanding of how things are built.
• You will benefit from learning in a multi-discipline environment.
• You will have the opportunity to learn from our colleagues and be mentored by experienced members
of staff.
• With support, you will begin to experience working with various stakeholders, and start to build your
own network.
• Your learning and experience will lead toward formal Engineering qualifications, on the pathway to
becoming a Chartered Engineer.

The Application Process
1. Please submit your CV with covering letter to hr@canhamconsulting.co.uk. Explain why you
would like to be an Engineer, your interest in Construction and why you should be selected for
the assessment day.
2. We will select the best 10 candidates for the assessment day.
3. The application deadline is Friday 3 May. All candidates will be informed on Tuesday 7 May 2024
whether they are required on the assessment day.
4. The assessment day will be held on Wednesday 29 May 2024. Timings for the day are
approximately from 9am – 1.30pm. The day will involve a written test, the opportunity to deliver
a brief presentation, network with our colleagues and finally interview for the role.
5. We will select one Degree Apprentice, from the assessment day. The successful candidate will
have submitted a strong application and have performed well on the assessment day.
6. All candidates will be informed on Thursday 30 May 2024.
7. The successful candidate will start work on Monday 2 September 2024
