Bristol, United Kingdom NEWELL Full time

Submission for the position: Inventory Planner - (Job Number: 2400961)

Position Overview

Position Title: Inventory Planner

Location: Bristol, UK (Hybrid)

Reports to: Supply Planning Manager

Job Summary

Inventory Planners own the supply of a portfolio of products. Their key targets are availability and working capital. To achieve their targets they will need to understand the supply chain, develop supplier relationships, communicate on sku status and reach out to the wider Newell team for support, clarification and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Own an assigned group of products. Monitor that supply at least weekly (unless otherwise agreed), placing POs/WOs and/or monitoring production plans from supplier versus required supply. Adjust as necessary to ensure timely and appropriate delivery of stock, obtaining necessary approval should plan changes result in cost increases.

Provide reporting on supply status, indicating reasons for issues, actions and dates of resolution. At times of new launches or stock allocations fully support these processes with clear reports of stock availability and due dates.

Partner extensively with internal Newell teams - manufacturing sites, transport teams, order management, demand planning, warehouse inbound, sourcing, project management etc - to improve or maintain supply.

Understand the demand for the range of products, including new launches, promotions and retirements.

Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal/external suppliers, while monitoring them and holding them accountable for supply issues/delays. Understand their supply chains to help develop ideas to overcome issues or improve responsiveness.

Understand what is Excess or Obsolete stock within the assigned product ranges. Ensure this is being reported to the necessary people. As much as possible limit the creation of E&O stock.

Facilitate the transport of sourced goods including supporting container bookings, working with forwarders, Newell transport teams and DC inbound teams.

Build expertise in planning systems. Ensure parameters drive availability and working capital results. Participate fully in transition to SAP.

Ensure systems are kept clean, e.g. updating and maintaining POs to reality of deliveries in a timely manner, chasing others to keep SOs and stocks correct in all systems. Maintain reporting as necessary to monitor this.

Obtain sufficient understanding to be able to cover supply on other product areas when other members of the planning team are absent.

Look for ways to continuously improve (cost, working capital, responsiveness, etc.) the supply chain of the assigned products, propose these improvements and implement as required. Where issues occur, root cause analysis to be used to improve processes to avoid the issue reoccurring.

Take part in projects, meetings and other work as required. Be fully involved in the implementation of new systems and processes as required.
