Overview:

First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic International Defence business who are looking to recruit multiple Vehicle Technician Trainers on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Lyneham depot.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To prepare and deliver instruction on course modules in the Initial Trade Training Department including lesson plans, training aids, workbooks and trainee handouts.
  • To prepare relevant training material, where necessary collaborating with the Media and Graphics Department for input to create relevant Initial Trade Training material for delivering training.
  • Maintaining a Continuous Personal Development (CPD) portfolio in respect of new technologies and equipment, ensuring lesson plans and training sessions are developed in accordance with the approved Learner Specifications; Course specifications and Course Training Plans.
  • Review course material and content ensuring it is current and evolves to support equipment and technology advances, using the most appropriate training aids.
  • Assessment of trainees to include: creation of written examinations and progress test papers, creation of practical assessment / examination scenarios and continuous assessments.
  • Marking of examination papers, setting and marking of course and homework and invigilation of examinations and assessments.
  • Ensuring trainee development through monitoring, feedback appraisal, discipline and training interventions, ensuring all supporting documentation are maintained and that any special trainee developmental needs or training delays are flagged to the Lead Trainer (LT). Delivery of remedial training and revision as necessary.
  • Trainee administration including course reports and trainee training records. Attending course debriefs as required by the Lead Trainer.
  • Maintenance of technical literature, training equipment, training aids.
  • Responsibility within the Initial Trade Training; training areas for cleanliness, security, Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW), Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and environmental and engineering hygiene, ensuring that all trainees are fully aware of these requirements.
  • Supervision of trainees and visitors to ensure full compliance with relevant health, safety and environment (H&SE) & ; personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements as required by the Authority and as relevant to the equipment training department, ensuring risks are adequately assessed and minimised.
  • Ensure that the correct equipment is used for each task.
  • To ensure that Quality Management System (QMS) procedures are understood and implemented in the course of carrying out any work tasks.
  • Responsible for identifying and challenging unsafe practices before reporting using relevant systems.
  • Responsible for identifying and reporting faults and infrastructure issues using relevant systems.
  • Participation in presentations to agencies and visitors.
  • Carry out any other tasks as directed by your Lead Trainer.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum CGLI City & Guilds Part 3, NVQ L3, Apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance (heavy automotive vehicle, plant machinery, or Initial Trade Training machinery) technical discipline or equivalent military qualifications, gained as Class1 REME Vehicle Mechanic or similar RN/RAF trade.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Proven experience in a relevant working environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook packages (Computer literate)
  • Knowledge of military environment and equipment
  • Knowledge of the REME trade structure and operational requirements. Especially relevant to the Initial Trade Training Department
