Main duties of the job

The Estates, Facilities, and Capital Development (EFCD) team at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Contract Maintenance Manager, for a customer focussed, friendly and enthusiastic individual, as part of our expanding service.

As part of EFCD the successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, management and support of maintenance contracts to the value of in excess of 500,000.

You will also be an integral part of the maintenance management and part take in an On-Call duty rota.

As a member of the estates band 6 management team, the post holder may be required to provide temporary backfill or support to other band 6 managers within the Estates Maintenance team.

35,392 + On-Call payments (Including overtime and unsociable hours payments)

Job responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

  • Contract Deliver, including cost and efficiency savings.
  • Communication with Multiple Discipline across the Trust
  • Assist the Project team with your professional expertise
  • Be consistent with current regulations and legislation
  • Good Co-ordination Skills
  • Attend and Chair on request Meetings
  • Produce reports on contractor performance
  • Authorised Person Duties (Medical Gas, Ventilation etc). Training will be provided).
  • Duty Engineer On-Call

Person Specification

Qualifications / training required

Essential


  • HNC/Degree or equivalent examined qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Building or related field. Or Project Management Qualification
  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent, plus specific training in a Building or Engineering specialty
  • Experience in CAD Packages
  • IOSH managing safely qualification must have or acquire within 6-months of taking up post
  • Extensive experience of engineering installations including Health care codes and Procurement routes
  • Knowledge of Building Regs and understanding of statutory and legal processes in respect to site developments or acquire training within agreed period of time

Desirable


  • NEEBOSH General Certificate
  • Membership of a recognised professional organisation is encouraged

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential


  • Relevant experience in the engineering and/or building construction industry including site supervision of contractors, working to complex programmes and delivery schedules
  • Relevant experience of electrical mechanical or building maintenance and/or design and minor installation works in construction industry or Healthcare
  • Knowledge of HBN/HTM, asbestos regulations and Approved Codes of Practice etc
  • Experience of managing directly employed labour and contractors in the delivery of (a) carrying out minor projects (b)a reactive maintenance provision, (c) a planned maintenance provision, or (d) a combined service provision
  • Management of professional level staff across estates and building services disciplines - delegates workload and draws out the best performance and standards
  • Ability to manage delegated budgets, expenditure, and cost control on delegated projects

Desirable


  • Relevant experience in the health service environment
  • Good working knowledge of Engineering, Construction Design & Management Regulations
  • Experienced in developing contract tender specifications and undertaking full contract evaluations and interviews
  • Project Management experience
