The IP Federation:

The IP Federation aims to improve the intellectual property (IP) framework to meet the needs of innovative industry by representing, nationally and internationally, the views of UK-based businesses. Its membership of 43 influential IP-intensive companies has wide experience of how IP works in practice to support the growth of technology-driven industry and generate economic benefit. The IP Federation interacts with a wide range of organisations, including governmental and international organisations, to influence IP policy matters. You can find out more about us on our website

The IP Federation is run by volunteers from the member companies and a team of two employees. Currently our employee team includes a Company Secretary who ensures the organisation meets any legal requirements and who has specialist IP knowledge to contribute to the running of the IP Federation. The role would report into the Company Secretary.

 

What you will be doing:

Supporting the functioning of the IP Federation

This includes arranging and minuting meetings of committees and working groups handling specialist IP matters, distribution of said minutes, and issuing and storing documents.

Furthering the IP Federation’s core aim to represent UK Industry’s IP interests

This includes:

  • Supporting the maintenance and improvement of IP Federation’s online presence. Including maintaining the website and liaising with our web provider for any improvements and maintaining and improving the IP Federation’s profile on relevant social media platforms such as LinkedIn.
  • Issuing effective communications to IP Federation members on matters of importance to members, including information originating from the IP Federation (e.g. position papers for review) and information from external sources (such as the commencement of relevant consultations, reviewing social media posts and disseminating this to members).

Operation and Administration of the IP Federation

A successful candidate would take responsibility for the effective operation of the IP Federation. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Handling finance matters, including issuing and paying invoices and keeping basic records,
  • Handling physical and electronic communications,
  • Implementing and maintaining an effective office infrastructure, including IT systems and record storage systems.

Required skills and experience:

You should:

  • Have good working IT skills and knowledge for administration and communication purposes
  • Have experience issuing and paying invoices
  • Be competent with basic accounting skills
  • Be comfortable speaking to a wide range of people both on the phone and via email
  • Have experience in tasks pertinent to the day to day operation of an organisation

The successful candidate would preferably also have one of the following skills and a strong willingness to learn the additional skills that they do not have. They should have an enthusiasm for these subjects and a willingness to keep up to date on these topics.

  • Basic knowledge of Intellectual Property
  • Be competent at communications through websites and social media and have knowledge regarding how to improve the profile of a business using social media

More about the role:

Working as part of a small team means that you will have opportunity to make a huge impact on the IP Federation. There will be opportunity to develop in the role. The role requires someone who is happy to work autonomously.

Location : London, hybrid or fully working from home with the occasional travel to London

Salary : To be agreed with successful candidate

Working hours : The role is 22.5 hours per week. The working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate.
