£Due to my clients continued growth and success of their Planning and Environmental Services, They are looking to appoint a suitable individual as a Principal Ecologist to oversee all ecological works for their projects.

The role will involve undertaking and managing ecological surveys in support of planning applications and projects throughout the UK. This will include field work as well as the organisation of subcontractors and specialist consultants. Report writing and desk-based works will also form part of the work schedule. Our expectation for the successful candidate will be to take on the responsibility of growing the ecological team under their guidance through business development and quality service.

Working as part of the wider team you would be expected to be an active part of the management and organisation of projects to ensure successful applications. You will be expected to generate and maintain your own portfolio of projects and clients as well as supporting colleagues with their workloads.

Proven track record in consultancy, with experience of PEA, EcIA, and protected species surveys.
● Working knowledge of the Scottish planning system including planning policy and species survey/impact assessment guidance.
● Understanding of the risks and hazards associated with outdoor working and remote working.
● Bat Survey Licence Holder.
● A degree in a relevant ecological field.
● CSCS Card Holder (ecologist).
● Tree climbing and aerial rescue qualification.
