Prevention: supporting children and young people to engage positively with their friends, family and local community, particularly in areas of need through street-based and centre-based youth work.
Targeted action: one to one and group support focusing on achieving positive outcomes including engagement children and young people in nature-based, outdoor learning.
Progression opportunities: supporting young people to take personal responsibility for their future through gaining qualifications, volunteer placements and employability programmes
As Team Leader for Prevention Services you will lead on planning, coordinating and
You will be responsible for managing and inspiring a team of Youth Support Workers to plan, deliver, evaluate, programmes of work from two youth centres and to grow a high quality programme of prevention services across Totton and Waterside.
Ideally you will have a proven ability to offer high-quality leadership, management and support to both teams and individuals.
This role requires a confident and creative individual with experience of youth work who is able to adapt sessions to a variety of environments including public outdoor spaces, youth clubs and community outreach sessions.
Regular evening and occasional weekend working will be required
Minimum Level 3 qualification in relevant subject (Youth and Community, IAG etc)
Working with children and young people including those who are vulnerable or at risk
Experience of delivering detached youth work, centre-based sessions and 1:1 support to children and young people
Understanding of youth work theory and principles
Understanding of the diverse needs of socially excluded children and young people and the issues that lead to social exclusion
Understanding of the principles and practices of equality and diversity
