Our development teams are working to transform our video streaming service, STV Player, into a world-class platform. Our challenge is to blend leading-edge technology with intuitive user interfaces and engaging user experiences.

As a Back End Developer, you will work within cross-functional teams in STV Digital, delivering the services that power the STV Player video streaming platform. With lots of great content, there's a focus now on displaying the right content to the right people at the right time.

You will own the services you work on from cradle to grave - helping product management and engineering leadership define the requirements and architecture through to supporting the services running in production.

Many of the services you would be working on are implemented in Python or Go. It would be great if you have a passion for cloud computing (we use AWS), as we have a cloud-native architecture that utilises services such as ECS and Lambdas. Event-driven architectures are increasingly becoming our go-to as we scale up, and hopefully, you’re comfortable with streaming data.

At least 2-3 years of professional experience as a software engineer.
Knowledge of a few different software design patterns.
Experience of developing event-driven software.
A confident, ambitious and curious approach to exploiting the latest digital products and trends.

Experience in monitoring and optimising the application's performance.
Experience writing infrastructure as code and/or working with containers (Docker).
Knowledge of logging and metrics to help you determine if changes have been successful.
