Position Overview:
To sell Makita products in your designated area and to achieve target by volume and value.
Key Activities
To sell within the territories designated, by calling on potential customers and servicing existing customers. Customers are defined as end users, and distributors.
To ensure the proper flow of essential info your Regional Sales Manager and colleagues.
To contribute to the development and maintenance of harmonious working relationships between users and distributors.
To identify training needs of distributors and Makita staff and advise the Regional Sales
Manager of these needs.
To monitor and report on your own training requirements to your Regional Sales Manager.
To liaise and work with the end user and contractors to develop business.
To demonstrate new and existing products to end users and contractors to develop business.
Specific Activities
To be responsible for maintenance of your demonstration kit
To sell all Makita product range with particular emphasis on Industrial Tools, Outdoor Power Equipment, Cordless, Cleaning and A.C Tools. To provide the Regional Sales Manager with weekly itineraries two weeks in advance of your journey cycle.
To report weekly to your Regional Sales Manager on sales and training activities, using the system provided.
To report monthly to your Regional Sales Manager on market trends, distributor activities, competitor activities, etc., using the systems provided.
To promote the image of Makita in day-to-day activities and assist with trade evenings, exhibitions, and product evaluation days on your own territory, with the approval of the Regional Sales Manager.
To maintain full knowledge of all products and their applications and collect comprehensive data concerning competitive products for forwarding to your Regional Sales Manager.
To cover designated territory in accordance with agreed plan. Some weekend working and overnight stays will be required.
To complete call reports (call & mileage reporting system) on a ‘live’ basis.
Summary of responsibilities
To contribute to the achievement of sales targets for your region/territory.
To keep all expenses to the minimum and to work within any limits set.
To ensure that all activities are in accordance with company and product group policy.
To maintain a high level of personal efficiency through the Regional Sales Manager’s
organised training, field coaching and your own efforts.
To actively develop the effectiveness of:
Makita users
Distributor’s external and internal staff
Training of Contractors Staff
To ensure full participation of dealer & Contractors staff to factory service centres for additional product training.
