1:1 SEND Learning Support Assistants (E3791) - Harewood CE Primary School

Harewood C of E Primary School is looking to appoint additional enthusiastic and creative 1:1 Learning Support Assistants for pupils we have with physical and developmental delay who need support to access their learning.

The roles will be to support the pupils 1:1 to enable them to access their curriculum and reach their full potential. Whilst working in the classroom setting there will also be opportunities to support other children within the class. This is a varied role that will require flexibility and a positive attitude.

Starting as soon as possible, these are full-time roles but we can be flexible and would also consider appointing someone on a part time basis to suit availability.

The positions are dependent on the children remaining at the school and funding remaining in place.

This is a fantastic opportunity for committed 1:1 Learning Support Assistants to make a difference to a pupil’s experience of education. The successful candidates will be required to work with the pupils who are currently in Year 1 and Year 5. They are a delight to work with, positive and keen to be part of all of school life.

Ideally applicants should have:

* Experience working with children with SEND

* Experience of communicating with a child who is non-verbal

* Experience of using Makaton to support communication difficulties or be willing to learn.

* Have a high expectation for achievement and behaviour

* GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English

* Willingness and ability to obtain and/or enhance qualifications and training for development in the post.

* Experience of working in a school

* An ability to work flexibly and use their own skills and initiative to enhance learning.

The full time hours of work will be 30.4 hours per week from 8.40am to 3.15pm term time only. You will not routinely be expected to attend school Teacher Training Days but may be invited to do so where the training is relevant to the role.
