BackgroundCity’s strategy has given us the opportunity to re-design professional and continuing education, as well as other forms of educational enterprise. Reporting to the Vice-President for Engagement, Enterprise, and Employability, this new role of Director of Educational Enterprise will be high-profile across the University and lead a reorientation of our provision from an independent and autonomous unit to a core, strategically aligned professional service. Our ambition is to reinvent and sustainably grow our work in continuing education, CPD and summer schools. The formation of this non-degree product team requires a leader and subject matter expert who will advise schools on market opportunities, partnering and business case development.
ResponsibilitiesThis is an exciting opportunity to contribute to City’s growing reputation as the university of business practice and the professions. The Head of Educational Enterprise role is new, and the appointee will lead an educational enterprise team to efficiently develop and deliver profitable short courses and serve Schools who seek to grow income/reputation through short courses, CPD and summer schools. Working collaboratively across a large and complex university with six Schools, the role holder will play a significant part in the development of Enterprise Strategy to relaunch a growing portfolio of Continuing Education, CPD, Lifelong learning and summer school products, and lead a high quality and financially viable unit aligned to City and School strategy.
Person SpecificationThe successful candidate will have leadership experience and managerial skills, gained from educational product development in commercial or higher education sectors. A customer service orientation, collaborative approach and a drive to deliver to financial and growth targets will be important to productive performance in the role. There will be opportunity to innovate and develop and build client and partner relationships, engaging at a senior level to bring City’s rich educational resource sets to new markets.
