Job Description

Are you ready to take on the responsibility for utility performance for the whole of Heathrow - this is a leadership role overseeing the area that fuels the heartbeat of one of the world's busiest airports. Heathrow is a mini city with an exciting and complex infrastructure.

As the custodian of one of the significant budgets at the airport, your role is crucial in delivering the plan for water and waste management, setting the course for reduced energy consumption and a greener future. Your strategic acumen will guide Heathrow's journey towards a sustainable future, making this role a cornerstone in our commitment to environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • As a key member of the senior management team, you will be accountable for the end-to-end strategic management of our comprehensive utilities budget. Your decisions will directly influence our trajectory toward meeting and exceeding our Heathrow 2.0 sustainability targets.
  • Craft and oversee mid to long-term financial strategies for energy costs, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Develop mid and long-term energy cost budgets, to drive continuous improvement, ensuring financial efficiency.
  • Engage and influence across all operational areas to champion lower energy usage, leveraging your technical expertise to meet and surpass our regulative commitments.
  • Lead and encourage a team of professionals against clear programme activities and benefits to identify opportunities.
  • Cultivate and manage key relationships, collaborating with teams across Carbon and Solutions to sculpt strategies that push the boundaries of innovation and performance.

Qualifications

  • A qualified engineer or holder of a technical qualification, complemented by a robust understanding of energy systems.
  • An accomplished leader with an impressive track record of steering teams and managing complex stakeholder relationships to drive business improvement and change.
  • A strategic thinker and problem solver, adept at synthesizing technical data into actionable, forward-thinking strategies.
  • An inspirational figure with a compelling vision for the future, skilled in rallying teams to achieve excellence and sustainability.

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • A history of advocating for best practices within the utilities sector.
  • Transferable expertise in asset management, systems analysis, and improvement methodologies.

Working Location

Our agile approach offers the opportunity to combine home working with meetings, events and training at the airport. All roles involve some on-site working each week, so you'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
