Shift: Sunday - Wednesday, 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Production Manager to join our client, a leading UK food manufacturer. This is a hands-on role, where you will spend 100% of your time on the shop floor, directly overseeing all aspects of production operations across four key departments. This could also be suitable for a Production Supervisor with management experience seeking a step up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Oversight: Manage and supervise daily production activities across four departments, ensuring efficient and timely operations. You will be responsible for meeting production targets while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop a team of production staff. Ensure clear communication of goals, expectations and performance standards. Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all products meet the required quality standards. Work closely with the Technical Manager to maintain compliance with BRC standards and other relevant regulations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance productivity, reduce waste and improve overall operational efficiency.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to on the shop floor. Conduct regular safety audits and address any issues promptly to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the management of raw materials and finished products to ensure inventory levels are optimised and production demands are met without delays.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, including key metrics such as efficiency, downtime, and waste. Use this data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments including Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless operations and resolve any production-related issues.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Production Manager in the food manufacturing industry, with hands-on experience overseeing multiple departments.
  • BRC Knowledge: In-depth understanding of BRC standards and their application in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and drive performance within a diverse workforce.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving production challenges.
  • Communication: Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with different levels of staff and management.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with production management software and tools, as well as a solid understanding of food manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work the specified shift pattern (Sunday - Wednesday, 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM) and willingness to adapt to changing production demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Production Management, Food Safety, or a related field is desirable.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
