TGRC are happy to be working with an independent rapidly expanding BESS developer in London. The client is based in central London with long-term expansion plans into Europe and the development of future technologies including but not limited to Green Hydrogen.

Our team is composed of highly motivated individuals who are passionate about delivering exceptional service to our clients and as our business continues to grow, we are seeking an Environmental Solutions Design Engineer, who has a strong background in engineering, a deep understanding of renewable energy technologies, and the ability to create efficient and effective designs for a variety of projects alongside helping us maintain efficient operations and, a positive work environment.

As a progressive and forward-thinking business, we prioritise work-life balance by applying a 4-day working week so that we can maximize output, foster employee well-being, and drive innovation for sustained success. The role will be Mon – Thur office based at our location in London, and from time to time you will be required to travel for site visits and client meetings, so a full UK Driving License is required.

The role: System Design and Optimization:

  • Develop detailed designs for renewable energy systems with a particular focus on Ground Mount Solar and BESS, considering factors such as energy efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact.

  • In addition, optimise existing renewable energy system designs to enhance performance and reliability.

Technology Evaluation:

  • Stay current with advancements in renewable energy technologies and evaluate their applicability to Greenfield’s project requirements.

  • Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of implementing new technologies.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, environmental specialists, and Greenfield’s project development team to ensure seamless integration of renewable energy systems into overall projects.

  • Collaborate with external vendors, investors and contractors to source components and services where required.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure designs comply with all LPA and UK planning regulations related to renewable energy systems across Solar and BESS.

  • Stay informed about changes in regulations and adapt designs accordingly.

Documentation:

  • Create comprehensive design documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and calculations across Greenfield’s projects.

  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders where required.

Requirements: Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is advantageous

Experience:

  • Proven experience in designing renewable energy systems within the UK market, with expertise in Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems, and/or other relevant technologies such as EV and Hydrogen systems.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the UK energy market and regulatory landscape.

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent proficiency in design and simulation software(s) such as PVSol, PVSyst, AutoCAD, PSCAD, Matlab or equivalent used in the UK renewable energy sector.

  • Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience of UK grid connection requirements.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to engage effectively with local authorities, clients, and internal teams

Team Player:

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Proactive and adaptable with a commitment to project success

Certifications:

  • Chartered Engineer status and membership with relevant professional bodies.

  • Familiarity with UK-specific renewable energy certifications is advantageous
