Reports to: Head of Physical Performance
Hours: 40 each week
Location: Oval Park Training Ground, Oadby

Main area of responsibility:

To provide insights into transfer of practice, player injury risk management and re-conditioning to help optimise team performance (via a blend of quantitative data, i.e. primarily GPS, and quantitative information).

Key Tasks:

· To develop workflows to clean, manipulate and merge data sets

· To perform ETL (extract/transform/load) tasks using data preparation tools

· To build practical, user-friendly reports/dashboards to visualize pertinent objective data and subjective information

· To provide regular feedback on data insights to coaches and support staff

· To provide match day support to coaches and players to every Senior Team home and away games

· To carry out any other duties and tasks required by management, which are within the post-holder’s capabilities

· To assist in Tiger’s vision to become the best rugby club in the world

· Ability to report and communicate data insights clearly and concisely to coaches and support staff with varying backgrounds (E)

· Ability to provide contextual meaning to data (E)

· Effective time management and prioritization skills (E)

· Excellent ability to work within a team and independently (E)

· Ability to learn new technical skills quicky e.g. advanced statistical methods (multivariate analysis) (D)

· Proficient with data preparation and performing ETL tasks (D)

· Proficient at using data preparation and visualisation tools (E) (experience working with Tableau is desirable)

Qualifications and experience: (D=Desirable E=Essential)

· Degree or equivalent in Sports Science in a quantitative field: Computer/Data science, engineering or mathematics with a keen interest in sport (E)

· Significant experience in Sports Science or mathematics with a keen interest in sport (D)

· Significant experience of working in elite sport as a Sports Scientist within an inter-disciplinary team (D)
