Blackburn Lancashire, United Kingdom Tensar, a division of CMC Full time €25,200
Job Description

Tensar, a division of CMC, provides innovative, project-specific solutions for common site development applications. As a world-leading manufacturer and provider of ground stabilisation and soil reinforcement solutions, our proven geogrid technology has benefited thousands of civil construction and engineering projects around the world for nearly 50 years.

Graduate Testing & Development Engineer (Growth Opportunity)

Do you have a passion for science, engineering, and innovation?

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong foundation in science or engineering to join our global technology team and support our Technical Centre in Blackburn, Lancashire. You will work alongside a team of engineers/scientists to carry out research, performance testing, data analysis and reporting on new and existing products and play a key role in increasing the throughput of performance testing for a wide range of products, all while gaining valuable skills and experience that will propel you towards a senior role.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, scientists, and other specialists to conduct performance testing, analyse data, and generate reports for new and existing products.
  • Independently manage and contribute to development projects, making decisions in order to progress the work
  • Become an expert in various technical activities, including:
  • Small-scale trafficking and large triaxial cell testing, to assess the performance and durability of new and existing products.
  • Creep testing using conventional, TTS, and SIM methods, to assess long-term design performance of new and existing products.
  • Contribute to new product development (NPD) prototyping.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable standards throughout the entire product development and testing process.
  • Prepare clear and concise technical reports and presentations for a broad audience.
  • Contribute to the generation, discussion, selection, and implementation of future development projects.
  • Interact with all relevant technical and non-technical areas of the company in an open and cooperative manner and liaise with external institutions and facilities to access specialised resources.

Essential Experience:

  • An HNC or higher in a science or engineering discipline.
  • IT literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
  • A genuine interest in science/engineering, coupled with a willingness to learn, use initiative, and take responsibility for your own development.
  • An enthusiastic hands-on approach to engineering due to the physical effort required to construct and deconstruct a variety of large-scale civil engineering tests, (with on-the-job training provided).
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to work alone as well as part of a team without constant direction.
  • Proactive and adaptable in an ever-evolving environment, with the ability to adapt and prioritise workloads to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal & communication skills (written & verbal), with the ability to interpret and present data/topics for a broad audience.
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety measures.

Advantageous Experience:

  • Mechanical/Product Testing Knowledge: Prior experience with mechanical or product testing would be a valuable asset.
  • Technology Skills: Experience with data science, coding, and CAD software would further enhance your candidacy.

While not essential, these additional skills will make you a stand-out candidate

The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
