Quant Developer

London, United Kingdom LGBT Great Full time

As a Quant Developer within Execution Analytics, you’ll work alongside the trading desk and researchers to build best-in-class analytics at scale. The crux of the challenge is to implement robust, advanced analytics and visualisations across noisy datasets that scale to hundreds of millions of rows. You’ll build a deep understanding of how listed and OTC instruments are traded, developing tools to analyse execution performance and the drivers behind it. The team is small, providing the unique opportunity to influence how Man Group trades trillions annually.

The Team

The Execution Analytics team builds the platform that delivers insight into our execution performance. This varies from systems that allow us to answer questions like “How much has Man’s trading cost in the past year?” to tools that visualise the inner workings of our proprietary execution algorithms. We have direct exposure to every asset class and strategy across the firm, so it's an opportunity to build a deep understanding of the financial markets that underpin Man Group's business.

Our Technology

We leverage the full scientific Python stack to build our systems: NumPy, Pandas and Plotly for visualisation. Our workloads are orchestrated via Airflow on Kubernetes and we’re heavy users of Man Group’s 8000 core Spark cluster for large jobs. For storage we rely on Arctic, Man Group’s timeseries database and for frontend development we typically use Typescript and React.

Working Here

Man Tech has a small company, no-attitude feel. It is flat structured, open, transparent and collaborative, and you will have plenty of opportunity to grow and have enormous impact on what we do.We are actively engaged with the broader technology community.

  • We open-source some of our technology. See github.com/man-group
  • We regularly talk at leading industry conferences, and tweet about relevant technology and how we’re using it. See @manquanttech

We’re fortunate enough to have a fantastic open-plan office overlooking the River Thames, and continually strive to make our environment a great place in which to work.

We offer competitive compensation, a generous holiday allowance, along with various health and other flexible benefits. We are also committed to continuous learning and development via coaching, mentoring, regular conference attendance and sponsoring academic and professional qualifications.
