We have been mandated exclusively by one of England’s popularregional building societies to find them someone for an interestingnew Head of Financial Risk Role. This is a high-profile role withinthe Society, forming part of the Risk function’s senior managementteam. The role reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer

Role Description

  • Responsible for the second lineoversight of all financial risks with particular focus on capital,liquidity & funding and market risks
  • Ensuring that theframework for managing financial risk is robust and being adhered toat all times
  • Assisting the CRO in the maintenance andembedding of risk management practices, including the Risk ManagementFramework, whilst remaining abreast of all relevant prudential andfinancial regulatory developments, applying these to the Society asrequired to ensure compliance
  • Maintain a robust and fullyembedded risk management framework
  • Leadership of a small teamof financial risk experts

RoleRequirements

  • Ideally educated to degree level within anumeric/business discipline
  • Expert knowledge of financialrisks including capital, liquidity, funding and market risks
  • Thorough understanding of financial products offered in theUK retail market and their implications for financial risks
  • Thorough knowledge of key regulation in respect prudentialrisk
  • Experience of producing or providing oversight ofICAAPs, ILAAPs and recovery plans
  • Professional standards inrelation to report writing are essential
  • Ability to influenceat all levels of the organisation, including Board
  • Able toexplain the technical and complex in simple language
  • Abilityto work well under pressure by managing multiple and complexactivities
  • Excellent time management, planning andorganisational skills required
  • Data analysis skills areessential to be able to quantify risk exposures
